Concerto Competition

The Concerto Competition is open to current members of the TMYO Symphony Orchestra in 9th to 12th grade. All orchestral instruments are eligible to audition, excluding piano

ELIGIBILITY
The Concerto Competition is open to current members of the TMYO Symphony Orchestra in 9th to 12th grade. All orchestral instruments are eligible to audition, excluding piano. 

JR. CONCERTO INFORMATION (for students 8th Grade and below).

REPERTOIRE
Candidates are strongly encouraged to select concerti from the standard repertoire. Students may be asked to change their selection if scores are not available or require rental.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

September 19 Recommendation, Video Submission,Online Application – $40.00 Fee Due 

CONCERTO COMPETITION APPLICATION

Teacher Recommendation:  Applicants must have their private teacher provide a statement to the TMYO recommending the applicant for the Concerto Competition. Recommendations should be emailed to jessica.calandra@tmyo.org.

Video Recording Submitted after Concerto Application is filled out:

  •  No accompaniment necessary for the initial video recording, however if chosen as a finalist, they must be prepared to supply their own accompanist for masterclass performances and the live competition.
  • Recordings must be submitted after filling out the concerto competition application. You will be redirected to a dropbox video submission link.

Online Application:  Applicants must complete and submit the following application form:

September  23 — Finalists are Announced and assigned to one masterclass. The Masterclasses are open to all TMYO students and families to attend.

October 10 – Concerto Competition Masterclass 

October 24 – Concerto Competition Masterclass

November 28  — Concerto Competition

The Concerto Competition Jury will convene on November 28, 2022, Blake High School. It is recommended that finalists perform their complete selection (full movement) with accompaniment. The Concerto Competition performance will be in front of a private panel of adjudicators – not open to the public.

November 29 — Concerto Competition Winner Announced

May 13 — Concerto Competition Winner Perform at the  Spring Concert
