Concerto Competition

The Concerto Competition is open to current members of the TMYO Symphony Orchestra in 11th and 12th grade. All orchestral instruments are eligible to audition, excluding piano

ELIGIBILITY
The Concerto Competition is open to current members of the TMYO Symphony Orchestra in 11th and 12th grade. All orchestral instruments are eligible to audition, excluding piano.

REPERTOIRE
Candidates are strongly encouraged to select concerti from the standard repertoire. Students may be asked to change their selection if scores are not available or require rental.

COMPETITION SCHEDULE

October 18 — Essay, Recommendation, Online Application Due.

Essay:  Applicants must prepare an essay describing why they enjoy performing the selected concerto. Essays shall be between 250 and 500 words.  

Teacher Recommendation:  Applicants must have their private teacher provide a statement to the TMYO recommending the applicant for the Concerto Competition. Recommendations should be emailed to jessica.calandra@tmyo.org.

October  25Finalists Announced

November 1  — Concerto Competition

The Concerto Competition Jury will convene on November 1, 2021 Blake High School. It is recommended that finalists perform their complete selection (full movement) with accompaniment. 

November 2  — Concerto Competition Winner Announced

May 14 — Concerto Competition Winner Perform on the  Spring Concert

SCHOLARSHIPS

TMYO has a financial assistance program which offers scholarships to help students with financial need offset tuition fees.
